Week 9 Rankings

Class A

1. Davison (6-2)
The Cardinals have a mammoth task at hand against Holt, who is undefeated and ranked 3rd in Division 1 in the latest AP poll.

2. Flint Southwestern Academy (4-4) (7-1)*
The Knights kept their play-off aspirations alive with a thrilling victory against Midland last Friday.

3. Midland (6-2)

The Chemics lost last week, but showed that they are as good a team as there is in the Saginaw Valley League.

4. Arthur Hill (6-2)
They won, but a 7-point victory over Flint Central (1-7) raises questions. This team seems to come to play against the big boys, but falter when favored.

5. Mt. Pleasant (6-2)
The Oiler defense stepped up last week to shut out Midland Dow.

Class B

1. Frankenmuth (8-0)
The Eagles earn the number 1 spot after dismantling Millington in the highly-anticipated Tri-Valley East showdown.

2. Alma (8-0)
The Alma Panthers finished the conference schedule with a resounding victory over Swan Valley.

3. Linden (7-1)
Yes, they lost, but the Eagles still have a plethora of victories over class A competition and a chance for part of the conference championship.

4. Standish-Sterling (7-1)
The Panthers' 28-8 victory over Reed City (6-2) sent a message to other teams in division 5: Watch out for Standish!

5. Bullock Creek (7-1)
The Lancers thrashed Shephard 40-0, and will aim to do the same to MLS this week.

6. Millington (7-1)
Despite losing their first game last Friday, the Cardinals will be a serious contender when the second season arrives.

7. Ogemaw Heights (7-1)
The Falcons struck down class A Gaylord (4-3) by a comfortable margin.

8. Flint Powers (5-3)
Powers may be 5-3, but their losses came from 3 very talented squads.

9. Montrose (7-1)
The Rams are no doubt salivating at the thought of avenging their only loss when the play-offs roll around.

10. Lake Fenton (7-1)
Not only did the Blue Devils barely scrape past Goodrich (2-6), but Mt. Morris lost to Pinconning (2-6). Their recent story on espn is inspiring, but could Lake Fenton have peaked too early in the season?

Class C/D

1. Reese (8-0)
The Rockets crushed USA (5-3) to remain undefeated.

2. St. Charles (8-0)
The Bulldogs have been cruising, but they'll have to be sure that they don't overlook a Hemlock team that is better than their record indicates.

3. Fulton (8-0)
The Pirates won yet another close game against Pewamo-Westphalia to earn the Central Michigan Athletic Conference championship.

4. Nouvel Catholic Central (5-2)
Watch out! The Panthers blanked John Glenn, and have been improving throughout the season; whoever faces this team in the play-offs will have their work cut out for them.

7. Ithaca (6-1)
The Yellowjackets continue to beat teams the way they are expected to.

5. Hamady (7-1)
The Hawks were on the ropes for most of the game, but reacted like champions to avoid being upset by Flint Northwestern.

6. Pewamo-Westphalia (7-1)
The Pirates nearly struck down Fulton, but instead will have to set their sights on a long play-off run.

8. Merrill (6-2)
Vestaburg should provide a good measuring stick to dermine how far the Vandals have come since last season's 7-4 record.

9. Clare (7-1)
With their 1-point victory over Gladwin, the Pioneers clinched the Jack Pine Conference title.

10. Flint Beecher (6-2)
The Buccaneers played Holly, a class A team, close.
